Frequently Asked Questions

Friday 02 March 2018 - Weather Update

The weather remains cold, with frequent snow showers and gusting winds.  The approach roads to the practice should be negotiated with extreme care.  Patients are asked to be extremely careful generally and particularly within the grounds of the practice, where under foot conditions on untreated areas are treacherous.  At present (10.30am) a limited bus service is running on the practice routes.  We are currently providing a reduced clinical service, due to limited availability of staff due to the prevailing conditions.  We are indebted to offers of assistance from owners of 4x4 vehicles to bring patients into the surgery or take GPs out to housecalls.

If your appointment is not essential, we would ask you to hold off coming to the practice and re-arrange a booking with the reception team.

Please be aware that as of Monday 23rd October, our telephone system will be replaced.  The replacement system will be similar to the existing platform, however we have removed the 'cloud' queueing function.  Therefore, patients will have to redial if an engaged tone is encountered.  This measure is a direct result of the level of complaints received regarding length of time waiting in the telephone queue and the costs associated with being connected.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Lorraine McIntosh

We are very pleased that Lorraine McIntosh (NP) has joined the practice clinical team.  Lorraine is a highly qualified and experienced Nurse Practitioner.

• Independent assessment, diagnoses and treatment of a variety of acute illnesses.
• Advice and clinical decision making via telephone consultations
• Treatment of Chronic disease exacerbations
• Ordering and interpreting any necessary investigations
• Safe and appropriate prescribing of medications or treatments
• Providing health education and promotion
• Referrals to other health care providers

About Us

The practice is proud to have provided personal medical care to the majority of the residents of Monifieth since the 1960s.  We are located half way up Victoria Street, in the grounds of Ashludie Hospital and on a public transport route.   The practice is fully adapted for disabled access.

There are four full time doctors and three half time doctors in the partnership and a full complement of nursing and administration staff.

Our aim is to provide a range of high quality, patient-centric, primary health care services delivered by committed and well-trained staff.

We work as an integrated team to provide a high level of effective and appropriate care, in partnership with our community. We aim to combine evidence based holistic care to a high standard that we will audit for quality. We will act as our patients advocates beyond the practice and strive to provide a caring and friendly environment that meets current and future needs. We will develop the internal and external systems required to deliver these objectives

Opening Hours

The Surgery is open from 8am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and our friendly receptionists will assist you.

The practice is closed between 1pm and 2pm to facilitate administration work.

We also provide an extended hours service on Tuesday mornings 07.30am to 08.00am to cater for those patients who find it difficult to attend the practice during normal surgery hours.
